Why I am a Catholic

Dear Sons and Daughters of God,

Jesus said - "This is my commandment. Love one another as I have loved you"

After years of being just a catholic, I encountered Jesus Christ in my life to show me the Way, the Truth and the Life. For me, a catholic was basically one who was baptized and one who followed the religion as per the Holy Book - Bible. However there were more interesting things than just this.
The Catholic Church ALONE goes back in unbroken succession to Peter and the Apostles, in doctrine and worship, with special insistence on the primacy of the Mass, the Eucharist and the Papacy.

Being a catholic is not just being a member of a temporary or an earthly organization for instance a Cricket club. To be a catholic is to be a son or a daughter of God. Hence I realized that I have a Heavenly Father, my creator who loves me and offers me HIS own life as many times as required inorder to save me from going to Hell.

A simple question, yet so profound in its action that I ask myself regularly is - who amongst my friends, family or relative is prepared to give his life in the manner that Christ offered himself for me?
Who is prepared to walk the same way of the cross ?

Once I realized that God is so perfect in all HIS nature and capabilities, I slowly realized that to understand God is beyond my capacity. So I must only accept God as a gift of Love in faith. How beautiful.

Our saint Augustine so truly expressed this
"If you were not incomprehensible, O Lord, you would not be God, for how can the finite understand the infinite?"

I like St Paul, on his way to Damascus where he encountered Jesus and that meeting transformed him to live only for Christ. He said this - It is no longer I, but he lives in me.

So pray constantly to the Holy Spirit for guidance and to walk in HIS Light.

May God Bless you always,
Parry
